The final culmination of the 2024 San Diego Comic Con was revealed, with Robert Downey Jr. (RBJ) being revealed as the actor playing Dr Doom in 2026’s Doomsday.
Why Does It Matter?
Dr Doom is one of the most popular villains / occasional anti-hero in comic book history, on the level of even Joker and Thanos. The bigger plot pointy that has been brought up is that RBJ’s initial character, Iron Man, died a heroic death at the end of Endgame in order to stop Thanos from destroying the entire universe. So him coming back likely means multiversal shenanigans.
How Could RBJ Being Dr Doom Work?
There are two hopeful scenarios that could likely be working in tandem. The first is that there is alreadya comic book story line where there is an Iron Man / Dr Doom hybrid. The other is the not only that, but the entire saga has been called the Multiverse Sage, so Dr Doom coming from another universe to wreck havoc makes sense.
