PC Builds And Hardware

My Budget PC Build

Upon switching from Mac to PC, I decided to pursue a budget PC build.

I’ve been using my 2010 Macbook since I’ve gotten it new and it has served me very well for the last 10 years and I decided that I wasn’t going to get a new computer until that one has died on me. But alas, I have gotten a new PC. My poor dual core Macbook couldn’t handle any games anymore, let alone stream and game at the same time so it was time to get something new.

But I didn’t game enough to warrant dropping thousands on the new build so I decided to go for a budget build. I wanted something that could stream and play games, but it didn’t need to be top of the line. I played games like Guild Wars 2, Civilization 5, Don’t Starve Together, Monster Hunter when I first built it. I’ve also started playing League of Legends, Fortnite, Valorant and Among Us without any problem.

Here’s what my build consists of:

Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Six-Core Processor, 3400 Mhz

Graphics Card: Radeon RX 570 Series

RAM: GSkill Trident Z

Motherboard: ASRock B450 Pro4

Wifi Adapter: ASUS PCE-AC88 4×4 Wireless AC3100 PCIe Adapter

OS: Microsoft Windows 10

So I saved where I could and I had some spare parts from friends. The tower and the RAM was gifted to me plus I already had a keyboard, mouse, headphones, and monitor. All I needed was the inner components and I was good to go. I’ve had this build since January and throughout all of this COVID-19 stuff it has served me very well.

It’s allowed me to play many fun games with my friends like Among Us and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and it runs Ableton, Maschine, and Pro Tools beautifully for my music producing projects. I haven’t had any problems with these components working with each other at all and hopefully this will give you some ideas on what to buy for your own budget PC build.
